CFCU (Community Federal Credit Union) reports that members have access to Lucky Savers Certificates as well as Certificates with a $500, $25,000, or $100,000 minimum to open. Lucky Savers can deposit a minimum of $25 with a 0.80% APY after 12 months. CD rates increase over time, with funds compounding monthly.

Membership is limited to any individual who resides, works, attends religious observations, or attends school in Tompkins, Cortland, Cayuga, Ontario, or Seneca County, or any business or organization located in one of the qualifying locations.
A 60-month certificate with a minimum of $100,000 offers a CD rate of 2.15%, significantly more than the national average of 1.18%. A $25,000 certificate over the same terms has a 2.00% return, and a $500 minimum certificate has a return of 1.90%. The $500 minimum certificate has a 12-month plus rate of 0.80%, with rising rates as time goes on. The higher the certificate, the higher the return, but all certificates provide excellent returns.
