Two of the branches, which are called namesake branches, operate in Westchester County and the two other branches operate in the Bronx. All of these branches are conveniently located in New York. Out of the 4 branches, 3 of them are open for business seven days a week and the last branch is said to be a traditional branch.

This account earns interest on balances as low as $1,000.00 and no per-check charges. Another popular account this financial institution offers is the My Community Free Checking account. This allows you to safely secure your money without having to worry about fees.

Savings Accounts: The My Community Savings account is an ideal account for those who are looking for a quick and easy way to save their money. The other saving services New York Community Bank offers is holiday/vacation clubs and kids/students accounts. The savings accounts they do offer are able to fit the varying needs of their customers. My Community Savings account earns interest easily on balances as low as $200.00.

The name of the clubs says it all. These accounts are perfect for saving for the holidays or a vacation. The Holiday Club account requires a weekly deposit that is automatically taken out from another NYCB account. This account can be started at any time and in mid-October of each year; NYCB cuts you a check. There is no monthly fee with this club account, regardless of the balance. The Vacation Club account works exactly the same way as the Holiday Club account; however, they mature in mid-April.

Kids/Student Accounts

These accounts allow kids and students to prepare for their future with a practical way to save. The Kids account is designed for children between the ages 7 and 17. The Student account is more equipped for college students. The two accounts are totally free and they can be opened with $1.00.

There are no monthly service charges with this account; however, separate fees will be imposed on optional services such as their expedited bill pay. Each customer is given limited check writing privileges with the Gold Money Market account. The required minimum opening deposit is $2,500.00 and there is a fee if the account is closed within 180 days of its opening.
